Transport lead within the urban planning process, for the urban zoning plan for the Västlänken rail project centrally located in Gothenburg’s historic part Haga

On behalf of the City of Gothenburg, Urbanista Stad has acted as Transport lead within the urban zoning plan for the new rail station in Haga, centrally located in the historic city. This involved general responsibility for infrastructure issues, developing traffic- and design proposals and producing an implementation study with the help of procured consultants. The assignment lasted several years, and our consultant was part of the core project working group, with responsibility for the theme of transport. The role also included acting as the city’s representative and expert in discussions with all affected stakeholders such as governmental agencies, the regional transport authority and property owners. The planning work involved a lot of contact with several specialist and support departments within the city.

Public consultation the station project urban zoning plan took place in the autumn of 2014. The city planning committee decided on a review in June 2016. Urbanista Stad administrated the consultation input from external parties and presented this at committee meetings. The urban zoning plan was adopted by the city on 31 January 2019 and came into force in July 2019.
